More travel pics

The first three are from my C-17 flight from Kuwait to Iraq. Impressive airplane. Next is first sunrise I saw in Taqaddum, Iraq. Next, whst is left of the Iraqi airforce. You can't really tell from the picture, but these planes are filled with holes. And finally something I didn't think I would see, palm trees in Ramadi, Iraq. Nothing new here, just getting settled in to our new home for the next six months. No casualties yet. Take care.

Arrived safe and sound

Arrived to Camp Ramadi early this AM. Dark, loud, fast, low and unbelievably exhilarating! That was my helo flight over. Pitch black except the glow of the instrument panel, two marines with 50-caliber machine guns out each side window, and the houselights of the city of Ramadi below. Amazing how much it looked like suburban America from the sky. Anyway, I am at my final destination in Ramadi. No address yet, but I'll send by email when I get it. The previous post has some pictures and I'll probably post more later today.

Pictures...finally

Some pictures from my trip over. The first few are on the parade deck at Camp Pendleton with my surgical team before leaving. The commercial flight we took from Camp Pendleton to Kuwait. And finally the first sunset I saw in Kuwait. As soon as I download more recent pics I'll send them. I hope you are all doing well at home. I miss everyone who isnot a Texas Aggie!!

From the frying pan into the fire

Left Kuwait this morning, a little sooner than we expected. Took an air force C-17, which wasn't too bad combat landing and all. Now in Iraq, but not at my final destination yet. Should be there in a couple of days. I still don't have ability to post pictures, but I will get them up as soon as possible. I once thought Texas was hot, until I was waiting on the bus with no AC in Kuwait at 124 degrees!! More to post soon.

Hard day's night...

Arrived in Kuwait several hours ago after quite a journey around the world. Will be here a couple of days due to a sandstorm. No pictures yet as I don't have all my electronics set up quite yet, but I'll get some up as soon as possible. I hope all is well back at home.
