Happy Birthday Marines!

Yesterday (November 10th) was the 231st Birthday of the United States Marine Corps. We had the traditional Marine Birthday Ball right here in Ramadi. As you can see from the pictures we got to enjoy two beers each, quite a treat!! The Marine Corps Birthday is an emotional tradition, particularly spending it in a combat zone. I am sorry I could not post a video, but I'm having problems posting videos to the Blog.

hey los --

i checked on the video stuff, and at least one of the problems -- the lack of playback on embedded videos -- has been fixed. i will play around with this some more on my side to see what the problem might be. will be working this weekend so maybe i can check in with the engineers, too, to see if they know anything.

enjoyed the pix. happy birthday to the marines . . . and before two long, to a couple other important folks . . .

Daddy,
I think you should shave that mustache off before you get home. I think you are winning the contest. What do you get if you win? I had my last soccer game today and I scored 3 goals. I played Katherine ,she was in my dance class last year. I blocked some when they were gong out of the field and into the goals. What color is my present going to be?
we are going to send you a birthday present soon.
I love you Dad, Madison

Trapper: Heard about you through Mountain Avenue, and I think you're doing an awesome thing. I went in with the Third Infantry way back when, in the Thunder Run into Baghdad. Embed reporter from the Times. Looks like the quality of the digs is better than when I was there!
Keep your head on a swivel and hope to meet you when you get back!
